Shelley was born in Chicago, IL but was raised in California from age nine.

After years of working in the Human Resources area for medical offices and an Out-Patient Surgery Center, Shelley entered the insurance industry in 1997 and built her own Third Party Administration company in California processing Medical, Dental and Vision claims while maintaining a book of business for Individual and Small Group clients.

In 2006 Shelley and her husband David decided to make a lifestyle change and head East to North Carolina. Once arriving in North Carolina and getting her family settled in, she established Apex Health and Life, working primarily in the individual health, life, Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage areas. Shelley successfully completed the requirements necessary to be granted full membership in The National Association of Medicare Supplement Advisors, Inc. (NAMSA) in September 2009.

Shelley and David's family consists of a "yours, mine and ours" with 6 children ranging in ages from 33 to 8. Because her primary focus is raising their 2 younger children, she enjoys working her schedule around their time in school. She also assists David in his day to day administration of Apex Financial Services Group and is active in her Church and community.
